Jesus why it is so? Meditation on the Attitudes of Prayer

Often this is a question that you and I have when our prayers are not heard all on a sudden by Jesus. We have no patience to wait for the Lord to take time to act. Sometimes I feel that I am not praying but demanding to the Lord.

When I say Jesus “You must take care of me while I am riding my bike”, do I say a prayer or do I place a demand. It might look like that I am placing a demand and not saying a prayer. By saying the prayer, “Father, I ask you take this cup away from me, but not what I want but what you want must be done.”

Yes, Jesus’ prayer always had a following if clause and that was always seeking the will of God the Father. Jesus never wanted to get anything that was purely according to His will but he always wanted what His Father’s will was. Seeking of the Father’s will is there even in the Lord’s Prayer. How sad we must be for we do not realize the inclusion of this clause in our daily prayer.
Evening prayers at homes have just become a routine and sadly many of us are just reciting the prayers without touching the heart of the prayer. Our prayers thus just turn out to be babbling words and not real prayers.

If only our soul has whispered along with the Holy Spirit then it becomes a prayer. That is why Jesus has commanded us to pray with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength. When we do pray like this, our prayers will turn out to be feelings and we will start loving prayers.

If why the people lose their interest in family prayers or prayers as a whole, it is because that their soul and heart are not involved in the action of prayer, but only their lips are involved.

When seeking a small job or taking up a profession, you do better. When you are asked why this profession, you have a number of reasons to say that this profession/job is the most favorite to you. We have seen students interested in drawing spend their whole time in drawing and painting. In these situations they are fully involved. They have put their heart and mind in it.

Or you can think of yourself. How many times you have failed to hear your mother’s call while you were watching a movie or when you were engaged with computer game? Just analyze how you are doing them! Are you not fully involved? Yes you are.

This kind of full involvement is what required in prayer too. While praying you should not think of anything else but only about how to please God and how to listen to him. Secondly you must be ready to wait for the Lord. Have this in mind that HE KNOWS WHAT YOU NEED before YOU ASK HIM. So when you ask him it is HIS PLEASURE TO GIVE.

So let us pray in this way that Oh God Our Father, Give us everything for the day ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL.
